As the world transitions towards a more sustainable future, ammonia is emerging as a versatile energy carrier with immense potential.

Ammonia has manifold applications. It is a component of cooling agent in air conditioning units, preserving agent in the food industry, used as fertiliser and used as fuel for engines and motors in the automotive and ship industry.

Blue ammonia is produced using fossil fuel like methane with additional CCS technologies for treating the off-gas from the steam-reforming to become fully carbon neutral. Green Ammonia is produced through electrolysis of water to produce hydrogen without generating carbon dioxide.

Green Ammonia is for example an important way for Diesel engines to achieve carbon neutrality. Green ammonia is also crucial as a hydrogen carrier due to its high energy density, which is nearly double that of liquid hydrogen by volume. This makes ammonia easier to transport, distribute, and store compared to hydrogen, enhancing its significance in a future hydrogen-based society.
